Friday night football comes from Pittodrie as Aberdeen look to make home advantage count against Hearts in a 7.45pm kick-off that’ll be shown live on BT Sport. Check out our top Aberdeen v Hearts betting tips.
An In-Depth Look at the Match
The home side start the weekend in fourth place but are level on points with Kilmarnock in third. Aberdeen have made a habit of finishing second under Derek McInnes, but they now have a fight on their hands if they want a medal finish this term. Dropping from second to fourth would be a real blow to the home dressing room and would take the shine off the good work their boss is doing at the club.
Back-to-back defeats has left Aberdeen in trouble and time is running out if they want to rescue their chances and save a Europa League qualification. The Dons beat Kilmarnock 1-0 at Rugby Park last month but followed that with a convincing 2-0 loss at Ibrox before slumping to a 3-0 home loss when Celtic came calling last weekend. The squad is looking a bit bare and those who do make it to the field are looking like they’d rather be off on their summer break. Despite that, the home win is favourite at 3/4 with Ladbrokes.
Jambos Out of It
Aberdeen still have something to aim at and a home win would see them move back into third, but their opponents’ season is all but over and, barring a big win on Friday and a huge loss for Hibs, they will finish sixth this year. That will disappoint manager Craig Levein who watched on with pride earlier in the season when his club went on an extended unbeaten run and were vying with Celtic for top-spot in the league. They now have a record reading 15-5-16 and that’s woeful for a team of their ability. Serious questions will be asked over the summer, of that we are sure.
Hearts have taken just one of the last 15 points that was available to them, losing three, drawing one before returning to losing ways on their most recent start. They picked up the share against Hibs at Easter Road – a result that done them no favours – before ending on the wrong side of a 1-0 defeat at Tynecastle when matched with Kilmarnock last weekend. Findlay scored the only goal of the game on 86 minutes. Levein told the press he thought there was nothing in the game, but Kilmarnock took one of their few chances. Hearts are top price 17/4 with Bet365 but their form puts us off.
