Australia v India 1st Twenty20 Betting Tips & Predictions
The dust has barely settled on what was a rollercoaster campaign hosting South Africa, but Australia are already putting the finishing touches to their preparations to welcome India. The sides face off over three Twenty20 matches this summer, before diving head-first into what promises to be an emotional Test series. Here are our Australia v India 1st Twenty20 betting tips.
The Aussies suffered a mixed bag of results against Proteas; however, an on-going dispute off the field overshadowed the play. No matter what the players did, they couldn’t shake the attention from a war of words between themselves, pundits, former players, journalists and blazers at Cricket Australia.
That seemed to distract those who took to the field of play and they lost the ODI series 2-1. Pressure is mounting on all concerned to finally bury the hatchet and move on, concentrating on cricket. Now there’s a feeling in the air, albeit slight, that the matches against India may be the best time to wipe the slate clean.
Organisers, players, fans and the media have been really looking forward to this series; so, it would be a shame if we were to waste it talking team politics and in-fighting.

Australia Looking to Make a Statement
Australia lost their One Day International Series with South Africa on Sunday 11 November courtesy of a 2-1 score. The result would suggest it was a hard-fought three games which swung back and forth before the visitors eventually nicked it; however, that wasn’t the case. Oz started with a six-wicket defeat in the opener but, like the final tally, that didn’t tell the story. The victors were in cruise control from the start and never looked like losing a match that was to inflict a seventh ODI defeat in a row on Australia, their worst run ever.
The hosts did bounce back to tie the series, winning the second by seven runs; however, few were fooled and there were no surprises to see South Africa blast their way to a convincing 40-run victory on Sunday 11 November. It was a result that highlighted the poor state the locals are in, as if fans needed reminding. It doesn’t bode well for the summer with many fearing the worst. It’s unlikely they’ll attract much stake money on them to beat India in the T20 series, certainly not in the first match on Wednesday morning, backers much preferring to wait until they see real improvement on the field of play.
Just at a time when it wasn’t needed, there was more off-field drama for players when bowler Mitchell Starc told members of the media, he had been released from his contract at Indian Premier League side Kolkata Knight Riders by text message. The 28-year-old made headlines when signing in a big money deal, but it appears to have all gone sour, and fast. The player himself didn’t seem too upset, admitting the IPL money was good but he’s much prefer to concentrate on playing Test and one day cricket for his country.
India Go with Confidence
India will slip into Australia almost unnoticed due to the drama going on in their opponent’s camp; however, they will strut onto Oz soil with confidence high following an impressive recent run of results. The kicked off November in fine style by hammering West Indies 3-1 in a One Day International series. They oozed class from the first and that result wouldn’t have gone unnoticed by followers of Australian cricket. Has this match come at exactly the wrong time for the hosts? It certainly appears that way.
The victors started with an eight-wicket win but had to settle for a tied match in the second outing. It was Windies turn to fire back next time, scoring a 43 runs victory to tie what was turning out to be an enthralling series, but India seemed to step up a gear and fired off a run of victories. That purple patch started with a stunning 224 runs cheer and was followed by a nine wickets success. Despite a rocky opener, it was a series they won at a canter and it will worry their opponents that they seemed to grow in confidence and strength as the games passed.
While Australia suffered their worst run of defeats, India kept sharp with Twenty20 glory over the same opponent. The nicked the first T20 by five wickets, the next by 71 runs and sent out a message of intent by claiming the treble courtesy of a six wickets margin. India are easy to trust, certainly on paper, and we’ll support them to win the first T20 in Australia at 10/11 with Bet365. The home win would surprise us, but backers can also get 10/11 (Bet365).
