Australia v India 2nd T20 Betting Tips & Predictions

Here we have the best Australia v India 2nd T20 betting tips. Australia and India go back at it in the early hours of Friday morning – UK time – when taking part in the second of their Twenty20 series. We move to the Melbourne Cricket Club for what promises to be another enthralling battle between two super powers of world cricket; a pair of sides fancying themselves good enough to grab the win.

UK sports fans can watch every swing, run and six live on Sky Sports from 7.50am and bookmakers have ensured you can bet on all aspects of the game. The money men have ensured there’s something for everyone, with even the fussiest of punter catered for thanks to a flood of competitively priced markets.

Have your say on the winner of the 2nd T20; who will come out on top in the series outright; or gamble on a host of special markets on both match and series, including: top Australian batsman; the top Australian bowler, player to score most runs for India; the player to take most wickets wearing the colours of India, or the highest opening partnership.

You can even bet on heads or tails in the pre-match coin toss, the odds set at 10/11 each of two, as you would expect. We did say there was something for everyone.

How the 1st T20 Match Went

The teams took part in the opening Twenty20 match of a three-game series on Wednesday morning and it whet the appetite for what’s to come. As well as the three T20s, Australia and India will also face-off in Test Match cricket and across the One Day International format.

This is Australia’s first major test of the summer and they are hoping to put what has been a difficult year behind them and get back to what they do best – winning cricket matches. They started with a nerve-shredding win over India in the 1st T20 match on Wednesday, nicking the result by just four runs.

In a match that swung back and forth, the final scores read Australia 158-4 against the 169-7 India. It may just have thrown up more questions than answers for weary followers of the locals but one thing’s for sure, it provided a timely boost and long-overdue reason to cheer for Australian cricket at every level from the players through to the board.

It has been a painful year so far, steeped in scandal and in-fighting, with Cricket Australia seemingly at a loss to get fans back on side. They know the quickest way to win favour again is by backing the team and helping them get results on the pitch. For all the talking that has come from both sides of the fence already, Wednesday’s T20 was a reminder that cricket is a results business and everyone connected wants the same thing – to see the team clamber their way back to the top of the pile.

Not Out of the Woods Yet

That narrow, four-run win over India in midweek may have put a smile on people’s faces again; however, it was little more than placing a plaster over the gaping wound that is the ball tampering scandal that continues to haunt the nation.

There was real pressure put on Cricket Australia to reduce the bans handed out to Steve Smith, David Warner and Cameron Bancroft; it did look, for a while, like the board would finally relent and meet critics somewhere in the middle.

Any hope of a comeback for the three men involved was dealt a huge blow when CA announced to the press on Tuesday they had no plans to ease the punishment handed out and allow the trio a return to playing international cricket.

Smith and Warner were slapped with a 12-month ban while Bancroft carries a nine-month ban. That sparked outrage, and a strongly worded press release from the Australian Cricketers Association who wanted the punishment scrapped after an independent review found CA to be partly to blame. The response this week – CA interim boss Earl Eddings said it was not appropriate to make changes to the sanctions and, although we’ve not heard the last of this, that should be the final word on the matter from the board.

How the Betting Looks

Following the conclusion of the first T20, odds-makers have gone back up with their thoughts on the series outright, as well as the 2nd T20. Not a lot has changed in their thinking however, after such a tight 1st T20 that didn’t tell us an awful lot on how the rest of the tour might pan-out.

That is obvious in the 2nd T20 betting and Australia have been priced as even money second favourites by Coral. That’ll catch the eye of value hunters who expect the hosts to build on the confidence that comes from 1-0 series lead. They weren’t entirely convincing on Wednesday, but did get the win and do have the benefit of home advantage. With that in mind, our bet of the day is Australia to win the 2nd T20 at evens (Coral).

The reason we’re siding with the locals is they appear to have been overpriced and we’d much rather have the better odds and enjoy the game knowing we’re already one ahead of the traders. Having said that, we really wouldn’t argue with anyone who wanted their stake money on India levelling things up and that’s a 4/5 bet with Coral, making them ever so slight favourites.

Price Boost on Lynn

Looking beyond the match winner market and you’ll find Chris Lynn as 3/1 favourite in the top Australian batsman market, ahead of Darcy Short and Aaron Finch. Kohli and Sharma sit atop the top India run scorer pile at 11/4 each, Dhawan next carrying a 3/1 price tag. All prices taken from the Coral website.

Coral are also offering a smart boost on the match, enhancing the price of Chris Lynn to score a 50 from 5/2 to 7/2. That value is sure to stick out and strikes us as a bet well worth having, especially with the competition offering much less on the same bet.
