Liverpool v Arsenal Betting Tips
The first of our Dec 29 – 30 Premier League betting tips is Liverpool v Arsenal. Following last season’s journey to the final of the Champions League, bookmakers had Liverpool as second favourites for the Premier League title this season. That raised a few eye-brows amongst followers of the English top-flight; however, The Reds have lived up to expectations so far, and then some. Liverpool stormed to the head of the table in December and were the last unbeaten side when Man City went down at Stamford Bridge early in the month. Top at New Year would provide the players and their fans with a massive confidence boost.
Liverpool started the month with a vital 1-0 win over Merseyside rivals Everton on Sunday 2nd ; however, they needed a generous helping of good fortune to get over the line. With the game locked at 0-0 heading into stoppage-time it looked like a draw was on the cards, a result neither side could grumble at. However, Liverpool had a final chance to collect the points, and they took it. Origi smashed the ball into the net on 96 minutes to delight the majority packing the stands. Jurgen Klopp landed himself in hot water after running onto the pitch to celebrate. Can Liverpool get another win? Liverpool have got odds of 1/2 at Bet365 for the win; a draw priced at 4/1 at Unibet.
Gunners Take Aim
Arsenal have been a vastly improved side compared to the one we saw under Arsene Wenger over the last couple of seasons. Unai Emery has made widespread changes, both on and off the park, bringing a fresh take to how things should be run, as well as modernising the structure of his backroom staff. It has made an instant impact and Arsenal are back in the mix for a top-four finish. A title tilt looks beyond them at this stage; having said that, there’s no reason why they can’t pressure a return to Champions League football.
The Gunners secured an impressive win over Tottenham on a super Sunday of derby matches earlier this month. It was expected to be a hard-fought contest, but Arsenal made light work of the occasion; they won by a score of 4-2 with Spurs never looking good enough to win the points. Aubameyang continued to progress, scoring a delightful double; that was then added to by Lacazette and Torreira who hit the net less than three minutes apart. Tottenham were overpowered and outfought, and everyone watching the game knew it. Bookies have given the away team odds of 21/4 at 888sport.
Follow the Form
On form alone, you’ve got to side with a home win in this match as it rarely pays to have your money going against Liverpool, especially when playing in front of their own fans. There’s little doubt a season spent fighting on all fronts will catch up with them; however, until we see the team beginning to creak under the pressure of a heavy fixture list, we’ll keep it simple and follow the form. Liverpool to win the match is our bet.
This will be the second meeting of the season with the pair fighting out an entertaining 1-1 draw at the Emirates Stadium back in November. Milner struck first that day, breaking the deadlock on the hour but his advantage was eventually stamped out by Lacazette who drew the sides level with a goal on 82. That result means both teams have scored in each of the last two games and five of the last six. Keep that in mind when putting together your accumulators.
Crystal Palace v Chelsea Betting Tips
The second of our Dec 29 – 30 Premier League betting tips is Crystal Palace v Chelsea. The Eagles have struggled for consistency so far this season. So, as we head towards 2019, it’s our prediction that, unless they improve drastically, they will finish in the bottom-half of the table. They are a side capable of matching most in this division; however, they continue to blow hot and cold and that’ll leave fans happy to avoid the relegation zone as we get into the latter stages of the campaign. The Londoners lost two on the bounce and sat down in 16th after 16 games, just two points above the relegation zone. Improvement is needed, and it’s needed fast.
Palace fans had something to cheer when seeing their side get the better of Burnley at home on the opening day of December; however, they returned to earth with a bump, beaten in each of their next two, following a 3-1 defeat to Brighton on the road with a 3-2 at the London Stadium in a fascinating contest. Scoring two at West Ham will often see you get something from the game, but it wasn’t to be that day. The Hammers won thanks to goals from Snodgrass, Hernandez and Anderson. This poor form has seen the home team priced at 43/10 by Unibet.
Chelsea Heading in the Right Direction
Chelsea have been moving in the right direction under Sarri; in fact, their form so far would be enough to put them top of the league most other seasons. However, this year is different with Man City and Liverpool out in front and showing no signs of slowing down. The Blues were never more impressive than when upsetting the odds to beat Man City at Stamford Bridge earlier this month, taking three points from a game they were expected to lose. It proves once again you can never write the Londoners off and can take nothing for granted in this division.
They fired themselves into the top-four thanks to goals from Kante and David Luiz, ending their opponents previous unbeaten record. Despite the loss, Pep Guardiola told members of the press post-match his boys were fantastic. He seemed to take it on the chin, his opposite number declaring himself very happy. He ought to be too, but it’s now about finding consistency if they want a return to the head table of European football.
This Will be Tight
A London derby played at this time of year is always going to be edgy; therefore, we expect the tension in both dressing rooms to spill onto the pitch. Chelsea are the better side of the two and if they deliver a performance anywhere near their best, we should see them walk this, piling pressure on their neighbours and hosts. Back the away win in your betting tips- with best odds of 7/10 at Ladbrokes.
Chelsea secured a fantastic 3-1 win over Palace in the reverse of this fixture earlier in the season. Morata fired in two goals that day and he was helped by Pedro who added a third, just to make sure of the points. Interestingly, both have scored in each of the last four games involving the teams and that leads us to a bet on Chelsea win and both score for a bit more of a price. 2-1 was the final score in three of the four and we wouldn’t put anyone off a play at interest stakes on 2-1 Chelsea for a nice return.
Southampton v Man City Betting Tips
It’s fair to say Southampton have been dire for much of this season so far; in fact, we hold little hope of them improving too much between now and the home straight when the pressure will be cranked up. Relegation would be a bitter blow to the side and we don’t think, if it were to happen, they’d bounce back at the first time of asking.
There’s still plenty of football to be played; however, The Saints won only one of their first 16. That tells the story of how their season has gone and the pressure continued to be heaped on when losing back-to-back against Tottenham and Wembley and, more importantly, Cardiff across the border.
Stick with Cityzens
Man City lost to Chelsea in London but had little trouble bouncing back; in fact, this looks a gimme three points for the champions away from home. It’s important to see how Pep’s boys respond when finally encountering a bit of pressure at the top of the league with Liverpool looking a determined opponent.
If fielding a strong side and showing no signs of a festive hangover, the visitors will win this match with a bit to spare. They remain a little lightweight up top, but have goals throughout the side. As such, we’d suggest backing them to win to nil, or -1 goal on the handicap. The latter is good enough to take as a single, but we’d suggest adding it to doubles or trebles for a greater return.
Man Utd v Bournemouth Betting Tips
The last of our Dec 29 – 30 Premier League betting tips is Man U v Bournemouth. United responded when under pressure and have every chance of putting pressure on the top-four. There’s a lot of work still to be done if they are to deny Arsenal or Chelsea; however, a run of wins would throw the cat amongst the pigeons. This looks a strong home win and we’ll take United to win to nil as our main bet.
Bournemouth have been performing above expectations in the first-half of the season but defeat to Liverpool at home on December 8 was their fourth in five as a hectic winter seems to be taking its toll on the team. With confidence low in the camp, we don’t expect them to get anything out of this trip to Old Trafford. The Cherries failed to score against Liverpool but did get one when losing at home to United in November.
Good luck with your bets and a happy new year!
