An In-Depth Look at the Match
Set a reminder for 4.00pm on Sunday afternoon when you can watch live coverage of this match on BT Sport. We say that as – although it’s not the most glamorous of the weekend – there does appear to be a fair share of betting value around and that’ll help ramp up your interest. Here are our top Lille v Bordeaux betting tips.
Lille went into round 36 of the Ligue 1 season sitting second in the table and it’s looking increasingly likely they will finish there when the scores are handed in. The hosts will get nowhere near champions PSG, of course, few teams can these days, but they would’ve known that back in the summer and we’re sure French football fans have come to accept the circumstances.
The race in Ligue 1 in modern football is to secure the silver medal and season stats of 20 wins, nine draws and only six defeats has them on 69 points, six better than Lyon who are behind in third place, nipping away at their heels. Lille have been professional in the closing stages of the campaign and go into this one on an unbeaten run, their last five showing three draws and a couple of wins. They hammered PSG 5-1 at this venue last month and another Lille cheer is 2/5 favourite with Ladbrokes.
Things Must Improve
The form of their opponents will worry Bordeaux fans and their own team’s recent results doesn’t to a lot to fill them with confidence either. Bordeaux can be found kicking their heels down in 14th, just four places higher than the relegation zone. There’s no danger of them being pulled into the trouble going on in the bottom-three, but it’s all too close for comfort and disappointing for a side who are capable of much better. The visitors have lost each of their last four and that has caused widespread alarm at the football club. Things must improve, and fast.
Bordeaux ended last month with a 3-2 home defeat to Lyon and started May on the wrong side of a 1-0 when hosting Angers. The latter was particularly worrying but both results demonstrate the problems at the club just now. They have been playing well enough in spells but coming out of games with nothing to show for their efforts. Things must improve over the summer or they will find themselves in trouble next term, that’s for sure. The away win isn’t for us, even at 8/1 (William Hill).
