May 24 Greyhounds Betting Tips & Predictions

We are fast approaching summer and that means increased audiences will attend the biggest and best greyhound stadiums in the coming months. There’s nothing quite like an afternoon or evening at your local racetrack, especially when there’s a title of note to be settled. Here are our top May 24 Greyhounds betting tips & predictions.

The schedule brings us one of the busiest weekends of the year with the bulk of the action going ahead of Friday. There’s the Richmond Riches which has kept backers guessing in the build-up, the Harrison Dawson that will prove one not to be missed and the super competitive Sandown Cup which, for many, rates as the highlight of the show.

Plenty of Racing Ahead

Bookmakers have put together a number of exciting betting markets to help you celebrate the weekend with a nice price winner and you can have your say on everything from outright champion in the antepost markets to each-way betting for the final. There’s still plenty of racing to be done in each of the three tournaments and we’re glad to report, at this stage, value is ripe for the picking if you’re willing to put in the leg work.

Thankfully for punters in a rush and those looking for an interest without spending too much time pouring over the form and figures, our team of greyhound racing tipsters and sports betting experts have done the hard work for you. We’ve looked at the main players, picked through the form and run over the price comparison sites to give you a bet in each of the three competitions mentioned. We also tell you the bookies that are offering best odds to ensure your stake money works as hard as possible on your behalf.

Richmond Riches

A quality field remain in the running for this prize, but bookmakers have had no trouble picking sides and have pinned their colours to the mast when coming down in support of Feral Franky who has been priced up as hot favourite. A number of the field look to have genuine claims to this title, but the money men are strong in their stance and traders at Bet365 offer no more than the 13/20 currently doing the rounds. As far as antepost views go, that’s a convincing one.

Bookies Have it Licked

We aren’t in a rush to argue against that opinion as it looks like bookies have the best dog in the list picked out. The money that has come in support of this jolly would certainly suggest they are on the right track, but we’re always hesitant to back an odds-on shot at this stage of the competition and would much prefer to take a stab at one carrying a bigger price. Knighthood is the dog for us and he’s a 4/1 play when getting your cash down at Bet365. Each-way players can take advantage of 1/4 the odds a place 1-2-3.

Our Tip: Knighthood – 4/1 with Bet365

Harrison Dawson

Sandown Park greyhound stadium in Australia plays host to the 2019 Harrison Dawson and the strong field confirmed for this year’s running proves this is a prize the top trainers and owners want to get their name on. The Group 1 is the climax of a series of races run over 515m and is open to the best 32 nominated greyhounds and reserves. A winner’s cheque of $100,000 means the action will be fierce from start to finish.

The antepost betting market has been dominated by two dogs during the build-up with Orson Allen circling the parade ring as a 6/5 favourite to go all the way and clinch the prize money for connections. The jolly is kept company at the top of the list by second favourite Flynn who can be backed at 11/5, both quotes taken from the Bet365 site. The pair will take all the beating but we’re going against the grain and backing Go Seek Fernando at 9/1 (Bet365). One that looks to have been overpriced by the traders, we’ll take a stab each-way at 1/4 the odds a place 1-2-3.

Bags o’ Promise

For your stake money you’ll be getting a runner with bags of promise and one that’s expected to make it all the way to the final field. If living up to expectations it’ll then be possible for followers to cash out for a slight profit, or hold their ground and hope Go Seek Fernando can perform a smash and grab on the prize money. This is a competitive card and we’re on an outsider, so small stakes is the advice if going in on our pick.

Our Tip: Go Seek Fernando – 9/1 with Bet365

Sandown Cup

This is a race well worth setting your alarm for as the 2019 Sandown Cup promises to be a cracker, one for both greyhound enthusiasts and lovers of a bet. Tornado Tears is hot favourite at the time of writing and is sure to be popular in accumulators, but that also leaves the door open for punters on the hunt for value to take a crack at one at a bigger price. The traders have thrown their support behind the jolly, pricing it like losing isn’t an option, but nothing is guaranteed in this game, as any experienced greyhound punter will confess.

Say Bye Bye to the Tears

Back Tornado Tears and you’ll get no more than 13/20 when having your cash down at Bet365. That price means we must approach the race in one of two ways – back the jolly in multiples and hope he does a job or take the market leader on with a punchy outsider. As already mentioned, we take no joy in supporting odds on shots over the course of a competition, regardless of the sport or selection, so will happily aim for an upset at a better price.

Tornado Tears is followed in the betting by Ella Enchanted at 3/1 and Dyna Chancer at 9/2 but the one to carry our support is Bago Bye Bye who can also be backed at 9/2 when playing through Bet365. The pick has won each of his last two and three of four. We fancy that purple patch to continue onto the big stage.

Our Tip: Bago Bye Bye – 9/2 with Bet365
