British boxing returns to our screens this weekend as Ted Cheeseman and Scott Fitzgerald clash in a contest at the Newcastle Arena. The British super welterweight title will be on the line and fight fans can follow a blow by blow account on Sky Sports. Here are our top Ted Cheeseman v Scott Fitzgerald betting tips and predictions.
A Closer Look
There’s also an action-packed undercard to support the main event but we are sticking with the top of the bill as it looks a puzzle well worth solving with plenty of betting value attached. Have your say on the fight winner to profit from the occasion or bet on one of the many specials, including method of victory. There’s more of a risk involved there but the rewards are well worth shooting for.
Londoner Cheeseman goes into this fight with a professional record showing 15 wins against one draw and a single defeat. He was billed as the future of the division in this country when turning pro and was well handled by Matchroom Sports but fell to a points defeat against Sergio Garcia when challenging for the European title earlier this year. He has boxed only once since and drew with Kieron Conway. Not great form and that’s why Cheeseman is at 2/1 at Ladbrokes to win here.
A Man on Form
Opponent Scott Fitzgerald has won all of his 13 bouts to date, claiming nine of those wins by knockout. He comes in on the back of a stunning split decision win over Anthony Fowler last time out at the Echo Arena, Liverpool over 10 rounds and had been much the more active fighter of late. Fitzgerald has been priced up as 2/5 favourite with William Hill to win again. This looks a closer fight than the betting suggests.
