Aberdeen v Celtic Betting Tips

This match gets our Saturday started with a 12.30pm kick-off that will be shown live on Sky Sports. A meeting of first and second in last season’s Premiership, it’s also a dress rehearsal for the final of the Scottish Cup at the end of the season. Here are our top Aberdeen v Celtic betting tips.

An In-Depth Look at the Match

The Dons don’t have the best record against Celtic in Glasgow and will start the final as outsiders in the betting, but they usually fare better at Pittodrie and will look to topple the champions in the Granite City, roared on by the support from the stands.

Aberdeen lost to Rangers last weekend in Glasgow, but they were painfully short on options that day with manager Derek McInnes happy to sit deep and instruct his players to attack on the counter. That worked to good effect when The Dons claimed a 2-0 cup win in Govan recently, but it was no use on Sunday. Rangers grabbed the first goal through a Tavernier converted penalty and that ended the contest. The Gers captain scored his second from the spot late in the game and was denied a hat-trick when having a good goal disallowed for off-side. The home win has been priced up at 9/2, top price when betting at Ladbrokes.

Bhoys Breathe a Sigh of Relief

Champions in-waiting Celtic secured an important win over Kilmarnock last weekend at Parkhead and that ended a worrying run of two straight draws. Since edging Rangers in the Old Firm, The Bhoys have taken five points from nine but they were made to work for the spoils last time, edging Steve Clarke’s men by one goal, scored by Simunovic in the 68th minute, allowing fans and Neil Lennon to breathe a sigh of relief. That win moved Celtic to within a point of the title and they will be eager to finally get across the line this weekend.

It was a game the victors dominated from the start, but they appear to be less clinical in front of goal than they were under Brendan Rodgers. It now looks unlikely Lennon will get the job permanently, even if he does go on to lift a famous treble-treble, finishing the good work started by his countryman. Who will take over at the helm? A number of names are being branded about, including Jose Mourinho, although we wouldn’t hold our breath for that one. Celtic are favourites to secure a win on the road and can be added to accumulators at 8/13 with Ladbrokes.
