April 20 Ligue 1 Betting Tips & Predictions

Dijon v Rennes

The first of our April 20 Ligue 1 betting tips is for Dijon v Rennes. Dijon lost three league games in-a-row recently and were sucked down into the relegation zone as a result, with time against them. The locals set-up having won just one of their last five and are two points better than bottom of the division, seven behind Amiens and safety, with their rivals picking up points. It’s not looking good for the locals and we can’t back them for the win here, even at 8/5 with 888Sport.

A Lack of Form

Rennes are stuck on a winless run, but they are safe from the threat of relegation and won’t be applying any further pressure to the prize places, so appear to be rolling to a stop in the final few weeks. They have drawn three of their last five and we wouldn’t be surprised to see this one end as another level finish, priced at 47/20 by 888Sport. The away win is 17/10 (Ladbrokes).

Our Tip: A draw – 47/20 at 888sport

Lyon v Angers

Lyon are pushing for a top-three finish this season, and the Champions League football that comes with it, but they have lost each of their last two and that has left the door open for main rivals Saint-Etienne to apply pressure down the home straight. The home side must bounce back in front of their own fans, but we expect to see a reaction and have them backed for the points at 3/10 with Bet365.

A Tough Time

Angers are on an eye-catching unbeaten run as the players aim to prove their worth and keep their place in the team for next season. They have hauled themselves up into midtable on the back of four draws and a victory last time and will sense the nerves in the home dressing room. Expect Angers to make things difficult. You can have the draw at 17/4 (William Hill), an away win 19/2 at Unibet.

Our Tip: Lyon to win – 3/10 at Bet365

Guingamp v Marseille

Guingamp have improved to take a point from each of their last two Ligue 1 outings but the damage has already been done this season and they will be relegated at the conclusion of the fixture list. Surprising, as they more than held their own last term, but it will be deserved. They are eight behind Amiens and only one point better than bottom club Caen. We can’t risk our hard-earned cash on the home win and won’t be touching Ladbrokes’ 16/5.

A Top Four Finish

Marseille are an easier side to trust in this contest as they are pushing for a top-four finish and have an outside chance of gate-crashing the party and working their way into the top-three Champions League slots. The visitors won last time out and we’re confident that, despite being on the road, they are good enough to pile misery on their hosts. Back the away day at 10/11 (Ladbrokes).

Our Tip: Marseille to win – 10/11 at Ladbrokes

Nice v Caen

A four-game unbeaten run, made up of two wins and a couple of draws, has lifted Nice up into eighth in the Ligue 1 table and they are just five points behind Saint-Etienne in fourth. The locals are capable of climbing the division and pressuring the prize places but must hold their form between now and the finish line. Keep faith and back the home win at a decent 3/4 with Unibet.

Bad Times for Caen

Caen are rooted to the bottom of the league and have lost four of their last five, including each of their two most recent starts. Things seem to be going from bad to worse for a team that has struggled from the majority of the season and they will be relegated at the end having given their fans little to cheer this term. We’re not interested in the away win at 21/5 with Ladbrokes.

Our Tip: Nice to win – 3/4 at Unibet

Nimes v Bordeaux

Nimes have performed better than expected this term and will land a safe midtable finish as a result. Their season stats show 12-7-13 and they have something solid to build on next term as they aim to improve towards the top-half of the division. The locals have won two of their last three but lost the spare last time out and we’ll bypass the 21/20 (Bet365) about a home win.

An Underperforming Side

Bordeaux are two places below their hosts in the pecking order with five fewer points on the board, and it’s fair to say they have underperformed this season. They make this trip having drawn three and won one of their last five but did lose the other last time. There doesn’t look to be an awful lot between these sides on paper, so we’ll take the draw at 9/4 with Unibet, more likely than the away win at 3/1 – top price with bet365.

Our Tip: A draw – 9/4 at Unibet

Strasbourg v Montpellier

The hosts are enjoying the confidence that comes from putting together an unbeaten finish to the season and they set-up for this match having drawn four and won one of their last five. That has lifted them to ninth in the pile, sitting four behind Montpellier and the top-six. A third draw in-a-row is our best bet at 21/10 (Bet365), the home win chalked up at 6/4 by Unibet traders.

A Good Chance

Their opponents won last time to climb to sixth in the charts and remain in with a chance of finishing fourth, although to do that they must cover the five-point difference between themselves and Saint-Etienne, a rival who is showing no signs of slowing down in the closing stages. The visitors are good enough to win this on their day and we wouldn’t put anyone off the 11/5 offered by Bet365.

Our Tip: A draw – 11/5 at Bet365

PSG v Monaco

The last of our April 20 Ligue 1 betting tips is for PSG v Monaco. Paris have already secured another Ligue 1 title and went into the week on the back of a draw and defeat, which suggests they will drop their guard in the closing weeks of the campaign, their players believing the job has been done. We’re not impressed by the 1/2 at Ladbrokes on PSG.

A Good Chance for Monaco

Can Monaco take advantage to add three points to their tally as they chase down safety? We really don’t think so, but they have drawn three of five and each of their last two, so we’ll take a shot at another share for interest stakes. Priced at 15/4 by William Hill.

Our Tip: A draw – 15/4 at William Hill
