Stunning Start

India went to Australia and secured a historic Test series win thanks to a 2-1 score. It was their first Test series win on Australian soil ever and captain Virat Kohli described it as the proudest moment of his career.

The victors got off to the dream start when winning the 1st Test, which started on 5 December, by 31 runs. The final score read India 250 all out, 307 all out against the 235 all out and 291 all out of their hosts. It was another dent in the pride of the locals; however, it was a result that set the tourists on their way to a place in the history books.

Australian cricket was hurting; however, the players were able to put their off-field problems to one side and give fans a rare reason to cheer in the 2nd Test Match when levelling the series with a hard-fought fight-back; they claimed a stunning 146-run victory to level things up and set us on course for a dramatic finish. 326 all out and 243 all-out beat the 283 all out and 140 all out of India who went from easy street to finding themselves with a battle on their hands.

Australia Looking for a Way Back

Success in Perth was Australia’s first Test win since the infamous ball-tampering scandal; those connected to CA hoped it would pave the way for many more as they strove for a return to form.

It wasn’t to be as the tourists rallied to win an all-important 3rd Test Match to stick their noses in front; they stormed to an emphatic and thoroughly deserved 137-run win, a result that seemed to knock the stuffing out of Australia. That Melbourne destruction, which saw Jasprit Bumrah play the game of his career, meant the home nation needed a win in the fourth and final Test to force a draw, but it wasn’t to be.

Australia was up against it and looked to be struggling; however, the weather saved them from another painful defeat, the 4th leg abandoned and settled as a draw. At the finish of play, it looked like 3-1 was much more likely than 2-2, but we’ll never know. When the match was called the scores read 300 all out and 6-0, India sitting at 622-7 dec, and that gave a feeling of what lay ahead.

Back Hosts to Double-Up

The talk amongst the India players after sealing that memorable Test win over Australia suggested they had achieved what they came here to do and were happy with their place in history. We may have been reading between the lines somewhat but that convinced us the tourists would take their eye off the ball during the 1st ODI and, for that reason, we made Australia a good bet for the win.

That proved to be a shrewd approach and the hosts battered their way to a win by 34 runs. It may amount to little more than putting a bandage on the wound; however, it’ll add some much-needed confidence to the Australian ranks and we make them good enough to do what they couldn’t in the Test series and build on the result.

The Odds

Bookmakers don’t agree, which is great news for us, and have India priced as favourites to get themselves level. Punters who enjoy following the market will find the away win offered at 4/6 with Bet365 and that’s better than the 8/13 you’ll get with many other firms. There’s no value in that and we’ll have our stake down on Australia for two-in-a-row at 6/5 – market best price when doing your betting with Bet365. If you feel the same, do be careful who you bet with as some firms give the same outcome at 11/10.

Away from the match betting and Kohli is an obvious choice for top India batsman, given his performances so far during this tour and the fact he’s brimming with confidence. Worth a poke at 9/4 with Bet365. The top Australia batsman market looks interesting and we’ll put our trust in Alex Carey who’s 4/1 in places, although as short as 7/2, so tread carefully.

Our Tip: Australia to win – 6/5 at Bet365
