Feb 23 La Liga Betting Tips & Predictions

Espanyol v Huesca

The first of our Feb 23 La Liga betting tips is for Espanyol v Huesca. Huesca may have won two of their last three, but they remain off the pace at the bottom of the La Liga table and have six points to find to match Celta Vigo and safety. They do have time on their side but, at present, it looks highly unlikely they’ll be playing top-flight Spanish football next season. Bookies have them priced at 15/4 (888sport) to win here.

Home Advantage

Espanyol looks much more deserving of our stake money and as well as a home advantage they set-up on the back of a three-match unbeaten run that has seen them draw two and win one. Confidence is creeping back into the camp and they should have enough about them to keep the danger zone at arm’s length. Back a home win in your accumulators at Coral’s 3/4.

Our Tip: Espanyol to win – 3/4 at Coral

Getafe v Rayo Vallecano

The locals remain in the hunt for a Champions League finish this season and although they’d do it against the expectations of most, if they keep up their recent form and continue to win games, especially at home, there’s no reason why they can’t finish the job. Getafe starts the week in fifth, just a point behind Sevilla. They’ve lost just one of five and we’re backing them to boost their tally by three points again, priced 3/4 at Bet365.

Unlikely Win

Rayo Vallecano may carry an attractive 4/1 price tag, but they are outsider of three for a reason and there shouldn’t be too much interest in them winning this match. The strugglers start second from bottom of the pile following three defeats on the bounce, having managed just six wins so far this season. They should be opposed most weekends and we’re happy to do just that.

Our Tip: Bet on the match at 3/4 at Bet365

Sevilla v Barcelona

This promises to be a cracker from La Liga as fourth-placed Sevilla get set to welcome league leaders Barcelona to town. The home side remains in the hunt for a top-four finish, bagging the Champions League riches that come with it, but they have won only one of their last five, claiming one of the nine points available to them recently. There’s little reason to support them with our hard-earned cash and we have no interest, even at 9/4 (Bet365).

Top Contenders

Barcelona has failed to win two of their last three, that form reading draw-draw-win, but they sit in pole position and enjoy a seven-point cushion over the chasing pack, Atletico Madrid in second and Real Madrid back in third, nine points off the pace. Little more than a minor slip, we expect Barca to move a step closer to another title with an away win, yours at a fantastic 42/41 – top price when betting at Unibet.

Our Tip: Barcelona to win – 42/41 at Unibet

Alaves v Celta Vigo

Alaves remain in the hunt for a top-four finish this season with stats of 10 wins, six draws and eight defeats giving them 36 points. They have one to find to match Sevilla in fourth and with their rivals expected to lose at home to Barcelona, this looks a great chance to ramp up the pressure. Alaves are unbeaten in two and home advantage should ensure they get the job done. Back them for the victory at 13/10 (Ladbrokes).

Under Pressure

Four defeats from five, including a loss in each of their last two, has Celta Vigo hovering above the relegation zone with Villarreal in 18th a point worse off at last count. Pressure is mounting on the away dressing room and if Alaves can score early in this one they’ll knock the stuffing out of their guests who are already low on belief. Vigo is no value, even at 11/5 (888sport).

Our Tip: Alaves to win – 13/10 at Ladbrokes

Athletic Bilbao v Eibar

Bilbao is stuck down in midtable with stats of 6-12-6 suggesting they’ll go no higher than their current standing of 11th but they have given fans a reason to cheer of late, having won two and drawn two of their last five, including a victory last time out. Without the threat of relegation hanging over them, they should be able to relax and enjoy their football between now and the flag. The home advantage certainly helps at this level and we have them backed at 21/10 with Bet365.

A Fighting Chance

Eibar is one place and one point better off at the time of writing and they too go into this one confident they are good enough to grab the points. They have drawn three of their last four but are also on an unbeaten run and we imagine they’d see the value in another level finish here, available at 11/5 (Bet365). The away win can’t be easily ignored at 14/5 (Coral), but we’ll stick with a narrow Bilbao victory.

Our Tip: Bilbao to win – 21/10 at Bet365

Leganes v Valencia

Leganes are a capable side and will think themselves good enough to pick up points at home against most sides in this division, but they were beaten last time out and continue to struggle for the consistency needed to climb the ladder towards the major places. Coral’s 17/10 has them as favourites for the points and that’s a decent call, but we’d prefer a bigger price in what should be a closely contested match.

An Equal Chance

Valencia is on an unbeaten run as they look to continue their improvement and push themselves towards the top six. They have four points to make up the difference with Alaves in sixth going into the weekend but there’s no reason why they can’t achieve that. Valencia have drawn each of their last three, however, and we’re sticking with that trend and backing a level finish at 21/10 with Bet365, better than the away win at 17/10 with the same firm.

Our Tip: A Draw – 21/10 at Bet365

Atletico Madrid v Villarreal

The last of our top Feb 23 La Liga betting tips is for Atletico Madrid v Villareal. Atletico Madrid is one place behind leaders Barcelona and rate as the champions’ main contenders to the crown. They are six points off the pace, however, and with Real Madrid in third two behind it looks like they have more to worry about holding their current position. Madrid can be relied upon to win this one at Coral’s 8/13. Worth a spot in your accumulators.

Fight for Survival

Villarreal makes this trip stuck down in the relegation zone and although they are an improving side after a woeful start to the season, there’s still much work to do if they are to save their place in the division. Too big to go down? Don’t bet on it as we enter a nervy home straight. They won last time but that’s their only victory in five and they make little appeal, even at 5/1.

Our Tip: Madrid to win – 8/13 at Coral
