Mar 9 La Liga Betting Tips & Predictions

Athletic Bilbao v Espanyol

The first of our Mar 9 La Liga betting tips is for Athletic Bilbao v Espanyol. Bilbao climbed the table on the back of a three-game unbeaten run but fell to their seventh defeat of the season last time, meaning they have lost as many games as they’ve won this term. Sitting 12th in the table with 33 points on the board they have enough in reserve to avoid the dangers of being sucked into a relegation dog fight between now and the finish but can do no better than a midtable finish. Level on points with their opponents, bookies have the home win as 10/11 favourite (Bet365) but that looks to be on the short side.

A Better Bet

Espanyol rate as a better bet as they line-up on the back of an unbeaten run that has seen them win two and draw three of their last five. They followed back-to-back draws with victory in their most recent La Liga outing, hammering Real Valladolid 3-1 in front of their own fans. A result that was to be expected, but the performance deserves credit and we’re going to stick with the form side at 15/4, top price when betting with Coral. That’s worth a pop as a single at interest stakes.

Our Tip: Espanyol to win – 15/4 at Coral

Alaves v Eibar

Alaves have done nothing but impress us this season as they continue to upset the odds and push for a top-four finish. While more fancied teams around them in the table have fallen off the pace, they have kept their consistency and can be found in fifth, two points behind Getafe and the Champions League places. They have won each of their last two, are on an unbeaten run, and we’re taking them to complete the hat-trick at home. Back Alaves in your betting tips at 7/4 (Bet365). That’s a value bet.

No Confidence

Eibar is favourites for the points here and that really caught us off-guard. They sit down in 10th with stats reading eight wins and 10 draws against eight defeats. That’s not the kind of form that will inspire confidence amongst punters and they have managed just one win in their last four. We’re going to keep this one simple and back Alaves to upset the odds. That ranks as a better bet than following Eibar at 8/5 with 888Sport.

Our Tip: Alaves to win – 7/4 at Bet365

Atletico Madrid v Leganes

Three wins in their last three games have Atletico Madrid second in the La Liga table. They’ll get nowhere near overthrowing leaders Barcelona but do enjoy a five-point gap over Real Madrid in third and will be desperate to hold their ground, keeping Blancos at arm’s length to secure a silver medal finish. Confidence is high in the home dressing room and the difference in quality should show in the final result. Support the locals at 4/9 (Bet365).

Nothing to Fight For

Leganes make this trip down in 11th, their form reading eight wins and nine draws against nine defeats. They have won three, drawn one and lost one of their five most recent goes but did bank a winner last time when beating Levante 1-0 at home. They don’t have an awful lot to aim at between now and the flag and we expect them to run down the clock until the summer break. Leganes are offered at a cracking 8/1 with Coral, but that’s not a bet that grabs our attention.

Our Tip: Atletico Madrid – 4/9 at Bet365

Barcelona v Rayo Vallecano

Every point picked up moves Barcelona a step closer to the title and it’s now a case of protecting their lead in the closing stages of the season. The locals have won each of their last three to open a sizeable gap over the chasing pack and were seen beating Real Madrid 1-0 on the road last time in a gripping El Classico. Rakitic scored the only goal of the game that day, bulging the net on 26 minutes and that was enough to earn them the points. Barca is 1/6 to win again and that’ll do a job in stacked accas. Tight, but fair.

Can Barca be Beaten?

It’s almost impossible to make a strong case for any Spanish side beating Barcelona this season, let alone one down in the relegation zone, sitting second-bottom of the league and on a spirit-crushing losing streak. Vallecano is well on their way to being relegated this term and you’ve got to fear the worst for them when going to Barcelona. The away day is top price 18/1 with Coral and, even at that, there’s no value in backing them.

Our Tip: Barca to win – 1/6 at Bet365

Getafe v Huesca

The last of our top Mar 9 La Liga betting tips is for Getafe v Huesca. Getafe starts the week fourth in the list but has Alaves nipping away at their heels, meaning they have a fight on their hands if they are to hold their ground and bag a Champions League finish. Every point is precious at this stage of the season, but they look to have a great opportunity to add three to their tally when hosting bottom of the pile. Getafe has won each of their last two and we’re hot on them completing the treble at 8/13 (Coral). One for your accumulators.

Fighting for their Lives

Huesca is rooted to the foot of the La Liga table with their stats showing five wins, seven draws and 14 defeats. They have, however, won three and drawn one of their last five, bagging a maximum last time out. Three points are now the difference between themselves and safety, but many believe they have left the fightback too late. Huesca is 5/1 with a number of major firms, including Bet365, and we’re sure that’ll catch the eye of value hunters, but it’s not a bet that interests us. Those stuck on the fence can take the draw at 13/5 (Bet365), but we’re happy settling for home comforts in this one. Good luck if you follow.

Our Tip: Getafe to win – 8/13 at Coral
