March 2 La Liga Betting Tips & Predictions

Rayo Vallecano v Girona

The first of our March 2 La Liga betting tips is for Rayo Vallecano v Girona. Friday night football from the Spanish top-flight as struggling Rayo Vallecano look to make home advantage count to secure the three points needed to ease their relegation worries. The locals start second bottom of the pile, but a victory here would lift them to joint 16th, free of the drop zone. Their recent form makes them difficult to trust as they set-up on the back of four defeats on the bounce. Traders at Bet365 have Rayo as 6/4 favourites, but we can’t back them at that. The draw goes 11/5 with the same bookmaker, which goes as our best bet in this tie.

A Rise in the Ranks

Girona sits up in 15th with season stats of 6-10-9 and they are unbeaten in their last two, following a win with a hard-fought draw last time. If Girona is able to get the points on the road, they will rise to 11th in the table, at least overnight. There’s no doubt they are the form side of the two and there will be interest in the 888sport’s 19/10 about an away win. We certainly wouldn’t put anyone off.

Our Tip: A Draw – 11/5 at Bet365

Espanyol v Valladolid

Espanyol is another side with the threat of relegation hanging over them, but they seem to be moving in the right direction and have put together a four-game unbeaten run, consisting of three draws and a win. If they continue to pick up points, they’ll be safe from the threat of relegation and that seems to be their plan. The locals drew their last two and a third level finish will bag you 27/10 when betting with Unibet. The home win is 4/5 favourite, top price at Ladbrokes. That’ll do for us and is worth a place in your accumulators.

Take a Share

Valladolid has taken one point from the last dozen on the table and that has them three better than the relegation zone going into the weekend. They suffered defeat in each of their last two and fans will be hoping they snap that poor run before the pressure builds. Real would see a share of the spoils as a decent result here, but we’re not confident they’ll take anything from the day. Bet365 has the away win as top price 17/4, the outsider of three in the match betting.

Our Tip: Espanyol to win – 4/5 at Ladbrokes

Villarreal v Alaves

It has been a bitterly disappointing season for Villarreal and they can be found down in 18th with time running out on their bid to beat the drop. One win in five shows the pressures they are under, but they have suffered just one defeat in their last four, that run of form reading draw-draw-win-lose. They still have time on their side, but must continue to pick-up points, especially at home, if they are to have any chance at retaining their top-flight status. Coral have the home win as 8/11 favourite and that’s the general idea at the time of writing.

A Top Four Finish?

Alaves can be found holding their own in the top six and, at present, there’s no reason why they can’t build towards a top four finish and take the Champions League qualification that comes with it. They have been the surprise package of La Liga this season and go into this game unbeaten in three, a win followed by two draws. Another share makes sense at 14/5 (888sport), but we’ll take a punt on Alaves at 18/5 with the same bookie.

Our Tip: Alaves to win – 15/5 at 888sport

Huesca v Sevilla

Huesca is ranked bottom of the La Liga table and has been the easiest side to oppose this season. They lost 14 of their first 25, although an improved run of form suggests they fancy their chances at beating the drop. Two wins and a couple of draws has moved the locals to within six points of safety, although the clock is very much against them at this stage of the campaign. Huesca is 3/1 outsiders for the win, best price with Bet365. You can have the draw at 23/10 with the same firm.

A Bad Run of Form

Sevilla is winless in four – three defeats and a draw – and enter this match on the back of two losses on the bounce. They have a real challenge on their hands if they are to grab a top four finish but, at the time of writing, are just two behind Getafe. A win here would pile pressure on the sides above them. Recent form makes them difficult to trust, but we’ll give Sevilla the benefit of the doubt and back the away win at evens with Unibet. A punt best suited to accumulators.

Our Tip: Sevilla to win – evens at Unibet

Real Madrid v Barcelona

The last of our top March 2 La Liga betting tips is for Real Madrid v Barcelona. The old foes renew rivalries in El Clasico as part of a famous double-header. League points are on the line here as Real Madrid target the win needed to keep things competitive. Barca is well on their way to another crown but Blancos will be determined to make them work for it, while they target second place. Madrid has won four of their last five, including a victory in their most recent league start. The home win is 13/8 at Bet365 and that’s a bet for us as it’s bigger than we think it should be in a derby.

Leaders of the Pack

Barcelona is out in front with 17 wins, six draws and two defeats giving them a seven-point advantage over the chasing pack. They make this trip on a recent unbeaten run and have taken six points from their last two games, further boosting confidence in the ranks. A win at Madrid would be the perfect way to complete the hattrick and backers can have Barcelona at 29/20 with Coral.

That price has them as favourite, judged more likely than the draw at 13/5 (Coral). We wouldn’t talk anyone out of a bet on either, but in a derby, we think it’s worth going for the bigger price, so our stake money rides on the home win. Those looking to sit on the fence can back both teams to score in accas at 4/9 with Coral. That’ll help keep things interesting.

Our Tip: Real Madrid to win – 13/8 at Bet365
