We have a fascinating round of fixtures from the English Premier League and a few upsets are expected. A Closer Look
Manchester City welcome Sheffield United to the Etihad Stadium for a clash that has kept everyone guessing. Only a few months ago this would have been marked down as an easy win for the locals and they would be a tiny price in the betting to get the desired result. Things have changed at the Etihad Stadium, however, and the defending champions now look shellshocked following a painful Manchester derby defeat at this very venue early in December.
This goes down as Pep Guardiola’s worst start to a league campaign since taking charge of the champions and the club have gone from odds-on favourites to win three-in-a-row out to a big price to overturn the deficit and beat Liverpool to the flag. The Reds have been utterly convincing so far and aren’t for catching at the minute.
Nothing for Granted
The only hope Man City have of getting back into it is by going on an extended winning run – probably until the end of the fixture list – and hoping Liverpool suffer a drop in form early in 2020. Can they do that? It remains to be seen but one thing’s for sure, the locals can take nothing for granted against a plucky Sheffield United side who will smell blood and fancy sticking the boot in. This will be much tighter than the pre-match betting suggests. The Blades want a war.
