Pakistan v Australia 3rd ODI Betting Tips & Predictions

It’s time for our Pakistan v Australia 3rd ODI Betting Tips. Pakistan and Australia slide into the third leg of their One Day International series when facing off at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi on Wednesday morning in a match scheduled for an 11.00am start GMT. The Aussies have dominated proceedings so far and will look to tie things up with a 3-0 lead, although their opponents will be determined to keep things competitive and, at least, force the issue.

Followers have enjoyed the first two instalments of this series with very little between the teams so far and the third promises to be just as thrilling for neutrals with an eye on the play. As you would expect, bookmakers have done their bit to help ramp up the interest, offering a long list of attractive markets, all carrying competitive odds.

Have your say on the winner of the 3rd One Day International, or go deeper into the betting and bag a bigger price by predicting the outcome of the top batsman and top bowler markets. Will there be a century scored? How many sixes will be scored? Who will be awarded man of the match? Knowing the answers to these questions could line your pocket.

Aussies Make Winning Start

This was billed as a 50/50 tie involving two evenly matched sides, Australia’s low confidence contributing to that and it proved to be close to the mark with the teams playing out a cracker in the opening ODI. It was a competitive encounter that looked like it could go either way for long parts of the match, but it was the Australians who held their nerve to cross the line as winners by a margin of eight wickets.

The final scoreboard read Australia 281-2 (49.0) against the 280-5 (50.0) of Pakistan. The victors were made to work for their win, but it was pleasing to see Australia continue to improve and in beating Pakistan they showed confidence was returning to the squad following an extended period of turmoil. Oz had shown glimpses of their old self prior to that win but individual errors had cost them dear.

Neutrals were delighted to see they had eradicated that from their game as a strong Australia is great for the game of cricket, especially on the approach to this year’s World Cup in England where they’ll believe they have a chance of winning it. It got fans watching the play in Australia excited as belief started to return following a period of in-fighting that threatened to bring CA to its knees.

Quick-Fire Double for OZ

The second ODI played out much the same as the first with Pakistan putting up a real fight before the class of their opponent shone through and they ended on the wrong side of the result. The beaten side can take heart from their efforts as they are competitive against a class opponent who feel they have a point to prove but the bare results don’t lie, and they are now on the verge of losing the series at the earliest opportunity. Going 3-0 down would deliver a body blow to everyone in the dressing room and they’ll struggle to get themselves up for the matches that follow.

Day Two

The 2nd One Day International was settled at Australia 285-2 (47.5) against Pakistan 284-7 (50.0) which was, of course, a slightly more convincing win than the one that went before it. Another victory by eight wickets but this was more impressive, and it was yet another sign that Oz are heading in the right direction, improving with the passing of every game. Followers will hope that continues as a 3-0 lead over a capable opponent would send out a real message of intent to the watching world, especially critics who enjoyed watching the players squirm under the pressure of the ball-tampering scandal.

It’s also worth noting the Aussies are far from at full-strength here and there’s a few back home who will rate their chances of pushing for a place in the final World Cup squad. This summer’s cricket extravaganza in the UK seems to be behind the upturn in fortunes for the series leaders, or it has certainly played a big part, as the men on the field look to prove their worth to ensure their seat on the plane. Australia get started with a match against the hosts England on 25 May at Ageas Bowl in Southampton, but there’s much work to be done between then and now.

Bookies Have Seen Enough

Australia raced into a 2-0 lead and it would appear bookmakers have already seen enough. It doesn’t pay to oppose the Aussies when they have the wind in their sails and the money men are happy to set-up camp with the form side, making them favourites in the pre-match betting to go 3-0. Backers can get involved at Coral where they’ll find Australia priced at 8/15 and although that’s tight, it makes more sense than taking the 6/4 on Pakistan bouncing back.

Other Bets

Looking into the specials and we find Usman Khawaja as a 3/1 shot to be top Australian batsman, a bet that will give backers a run for their money. Others on the list worth a mention are Aaron Finch at 5/2 and Glenn Maxwell who catches the eye at 6/1. Playing the top Australian bowler betting will grant you access to Adam Zampa at 11/4, Jason Behrendorff at 4/1 and Kane Richardson who is also available at 4/1.

Will there be a century scored before the completion of Wednesday’s match? It has been a high-scoring series so far and we’ll take our chances on yes at 4/6. That makes more sense than taking a risk on the 11/10 of no. That bet will be settled as a winner as long as there’s a 100 scored and it doesn’t matter which player is responsible or what team he plays for. It’ll give backers an interest for the majority of the play and we’re confident it’ll be paid out as a winner long before the end.

Our Tip: Yes – A century to be scored – 4/6 at Coral
