An In-Depth Look at the Match
Here are our top Rennes v Guingamp betting tips. This match is scheduled for 2.00pm on Sunday afternoon and armchair fans can keep pace with the action thanks to the live coverage offered up by BT Sport. It may not be at the top of everyone’s watch list, due to matters in the domestic leagues, but those who do tune in will be treated to an enjoyable 90 minutes, played out by two well-matched sides.
Rennes start down in 13th and a recent run of form has seen them slip back through the pecking order. They are in no danger of being sucked into the relegation battle going on below, but they are performing well below the expectations of fans.
Stuck on a miserable winless run, their last five results show two defeats and three draws. They have finished level in each of their last two matches and that tells us the players are already halfway out the door and on their summer holidays, certainly mentally. They don’t have an awful lot to play for in the closing weeks of the season, other than pride, but that doesn’t appear to be enough to hold their concentration. Another draw is 5/2 at Ladbrokes, the home win 10/11 favourite with Bet365.
Bottom of the League
Guingamp are rooted to the bottom of the Ligue 1 table and will be relegated at the end of the season. That came as a bit of a shock to us as, when previewing the campaign back in the summer they looked a club who could hold their own in the top-half or, at least, hold on for midtable safety. It wasn’t to be and a run of five wins, 10 draws and 20 defeats has the visitors on 25 points, eight behind Monaco in 17th. The players will be feeling sorry for themselves, most knowing they won’t get a look in next season.
Three points taken from the last 15 available didn’t do much to boost their chances of survival at a desperate time of the season and when they do go down, they’ll know they only have themselves to blame. Guingamp lost to Marseille and Nice, conceding three goals on each occasion, before rallying to get a draw at home to Caen last time out. Their form makes them impossible to trust and we want nothing to do with the 29/10 at William Hill for an away win.
