Rolex Shanghai Masters Tennis Predictions & Betting Tips
The 13th Rolex Shanghai Masters Tennis Tournament takes place on Monday, September 30th, running until…
There’s never been a more open Women’s Wimbledon tournament, so it’s always good to get good tennis betting tips to guide you. With all of the top 10 seeds in the women’s draw having been knocked out by the quarter-final stage at Wimbledon – it has been one of the most open Wimbledon draws in recent years. Serena Williams headlines the draw and looks the obvious favourite to go and claim her 24th Grand Slam title whilst fellow major winners Jelena Ostapenko and Angelique Kerber are looking to add the Wimbledon title to their collection. Julia Goerges completes the semi-final line-up; the German has been in fine form all season and will fancy her chances. If your looking at other tennis betting strategies as well as an outright match winner, here are our tennis betting tips to help you pick a winner:
Serena Williams – Evens – Ladbrokes
Angelique Kerber – 13/5 – Unibet
Jelena Ostapenko – 19/4 – 888sport
Julia Goerges – 12/1 – Bet365
Angelique Kerber – 7/11 – William Hill
Jelena Ostapenko – 11/8 – Ladbrokes
Two of the hardest-hitters in women’s tennis face off in the first semi-final on centre court on Thursday. The 2016 Australian Open and US Open Champion, Kerber, has returned to form in 2018 and looks to be rekindling the type of form that saw her climb to World Number 1 two years ago. 2017 French Open Champion, Ostapenko, has become a staple in the world’s top 15 in recent seasons and has enjoyed her best performance at SW19 this year.
Remarkably, these two big names have never met on the WTA Tour before and it should be an intriguing battle between two players operating at the top of their game.
This should be a very even match between two players that play from the baseline and look to wear their respective opponents down.
Most Aces: Jelena Ostapenko – 8/11 (William Hill). The Latvian possess a bomb of a first serve and is a strong returner too. Should she play to her potential, should pick up the most aces here.
Tie-Break in Match: YES – 2/1 (Ladbrokes). Despite both players being efficient on their return game they look evenly matched, suggesting that sets could be decided on very fine margins.
Total Games in Match: Over 23 – 5/4 (Bet 365). With only one place between them in the world rankings, there isn’t much to split these two ladies – suggesting there could be a long match in store.
Set Betting: 3 Sets – 13/10 (William Hill). It doesn’t come much bigger than a Wimbledon semi-final and both players will be willing to go the limit to get their win.
Top Match Bet: Angelique Kerber to win 2 sets to 1 – 3/1 (Unibet)
The experienced German enjoys playing at SW19 – reaching the final here in 2016. She looks to be riding the crest of a wave currently; however, she won’t be expecting to have things all her own way against Ostapenko.
Serena Williams – 2/7 – William Hill
Julia Goerges – 3/1 – 888sport
The bottom half of the draw has culminated in two of the most consistent players in the draw clashing in the Wimbledon semi-finals. Serena has won 23 Grand Slams and has returned from the birth of her child in imperious form. She has eased through the draw once again this year. On the other hand, the German number 13 seed has reached her maiden Grand Slam semi-final and looks to be fulfilling her endless potential on the world stage.
As with many players on the WTA Tour, Serena has a winning head to head record against Goerges – leading 3:0. They last met at the 2018 French Open, which resulted in Williams winning comfortably in straight sets.
Whilst Serena has a wealth of experience and knowhow at Grand Slam level, she hasn’t looked at her absolute best at SW19 this year; Goerges will feel she has more than a chance here.
Most Aces: Serena Williams – 5/4 (William Hill). This could be an intriguing battle between two big-servers. However, Serena looks excellent value – should she serve anywhere near her best.
Tie-Break in Match: NO – 2/7 (Bet 365). In 3 previous meetings, these two players have only ever shared a tie-break once, suggesting that it is unlikely to happen on Centre Court this year.
Total Games in Match: Under 23.5 – 8/15 (Ladbrokes). Goerges is more than capable of pushing Serena all the way but may struggle to cope with her power on the biggest stage of all.
Set Betting: 2 Sets – 4/9 (888sport). Serena will be looking to power towards her next Grand Slam final and shouldn’t have too much issue dispatching Goerges here.
Top Match Bet: Serena Williams to win 2 sets to 0 – 3/4 (William Hill).
Julia Goerges has enjoyed an incredible run in the bottom half of the draw at Aorangi Park. However, Serena look to have a point to prove at SW19 here and how she would love to take another comfortable step towards her 24th Grand Slam title.
