The 13th Rolex Shanghai Masters Tennis Tournament takes place on Monday, September 30th, running until Sunday, October 13th, as the likes of Novak Djokovic and Carlos Alcaraz make their return.

The award-winning event on the ATP Tour has already created a huge buzz of excitement around Shanghai ahead of this year’s competition, which will see the likes of Australian Open champion Roland Garros and Wimbledon champion Carlos Alcaraz return.
Also returning after five years away from the tournament, the Olympic Gold Medallist and four-time winner of the Rolex Shanghai Masters, Novak Djokovic, has confirmed that he will return to the delight of tennis fans.
Many other huge names in the game are on the entry list for the event, including Ben Shelton, Stefanos Tsitsipas, Sebi Korda, Alex De Minaur, Grigor Dimitrov, and Jack Draper.

The 2023 Shanghai Masters event debuted a brand new format: a 12-day main draw tournament. It saw huge success and is expected to be the format of the tournament going forward.
The tournament saw some of the biggest names in the game become casualties right from the opening round. Both Stan Wawrinka and Andy Murray made early exits in Round 1.
The quarter-final stage saw several other high-profile exits, including Jannik Sinner, Casper Ruud, and Carlos Alcaraz.
In the final, it was Andrey Rublev and Hubert Hurkacz who battled it out to become the 2023 Shanghai Open champion. Eventually, it was Hurkacz of Poland who came out on top, winning the match 3-6 6-3 6-7.
The Rolex Shanghai Masters is one of only nine ATP Masters 1000 tournaments in the world. The 1000 is the total number of points the tournament’s winner receives.
The ATP 1000 tournaments, Grand Slams, and Year-end Championships are considered the most sought-after titles on the tour.
It has been praised as one of the best events on the tour, and to further represent its reputation, the Shanghai Master won the ATP Masters 1000 Tournament of the Year award from its first year launching until 2013.
Novak Djokovic holds the most Shanghai Masters titles, with four since the tournament began in 2009. Andy Murray and Djokovic share the record for the most consecutive titles, with both achieving two victories in a row.
