Any chance the beaten side had of drawing level ended late in the day when Bright was sent off for a second bookable offence. Impressive for England, but it was a case of so close yet so far and they were sent home to pick through the bones of their campaign before aiming to come back stronger. Netherlands joined USA in the final thanks to a win over Sweden in the semis and it was another hard-fought contest that went right down to the wire. The scorer kept her nerve to grab the win after both goalkeepers pulled off a list of stunning saves to keep the scores blank. If the final lives up to the two semis we are in for a spectacular match.
