After a tough 2-1 loss to Greece on Thursday, England face Finland in Matchday 4 of the Nations League on Sunday 13th October.
Hopeful of securing a positive result to keep themselves in contention for the top of the group, Lee Carsley and his side will be looking to hit the ground running right from the get-go against a side who also lost on Matchday 3. Check out the latest results from the Nations League here.
After a disappointing result on Matchday 3, in which Finland lost 2-1 to the Republic of Ireland at home, they will want to avoid a repeat on Matchday 4 against England.
They played the Three Lions previously back on Matchday 2, where they found themselves on the losing end of a 2-0 scoreline.
They have yet to secure a result in Group B2 and are last with 0 points after three losses from three games.
England will no doubt have been disappointed after the loss against Greece on Thursday and will be looking towards the match against Finland as a chance to redeem themselves.
Carlsey’s side managed to equalise in the final stages of the match thanks to Jude Bellingham, but it was Greece who managed to score the winning goal to secure the win 2-1.
England remains second in the table with six points from a possible nine. If they can secure a result in Finland, they stand a chance of regaining their position on points with Greece.
Finland has yet to win a football match against England in the history of the two countries playing each other.
England has beaten the side on two occasions, with the remaining game ending in a draw.
Could this be the home side’s chance to make history and get a much-needed win over England?
With both sides coming off the back of losses, I am backing there to be goals scored by both in a tight affair that England will ultimately come out on top of.
