Liverpool welcome Chelsea to Anfield on Sunday in both sides’ first match back after the international break. It is top of the table versus fourth, with just four points separating the two teams.

Before the international break, it was a 1-0 victory over Crystal Palace that ensured Arne Slot’s side were sitting at the top of the Premier League table. 

They are leading Manchester City and Arsenal by one point, and they will be looking to secure three points to keep their place at the top of the table.

A challenge awaits the league leaders in a Chelsea side who have been on a much-improved run of form since their opening day loss to Man City.

Without their first choice keeper who is out through injury, Liverpool’s defensive record will be under threat from the London side who have been on a good run of goalscoring form.

Before the break, Chelsea was on a good run of form and enjoying that winning feeling again under the management of Enzo Maresca.

However, last time out, the Blues drew 1-1 with Nottingham Forest, a side their opponents this weekend are very familiar with, having been their only loss of the season.

A win against the Reds could see Marseca’s side go within just a point of the current leaders. However, they are coming up against the best defence in the league, with only two goals conceded. 

Liverpool are without goalkeeper Alisson for the match, however, and with Chelsea having scored in every match since the opening day, including 16 in their last seven, they could be a threat.
