Matchday 1 & 2 Recap

The first round of Nations League fixtures saw two wins for England against the Republic of Ireland and Finland, while Harry Kane scored a brace against Finland to mark his 100th England cap.

The Netherlands and Germany battled it out in an intense tie between the two top sides. The familiar rivals shared 21 goals in their previous five meetings, and this one added another four to that total, with the match finishing 2-2.

France bounced back from a defeat to Italy on matchday 1 to beat Belgium 2-0. The Red Devils were resilient in Lyon, but Les Bleus grew into the match and went ahead midway through the first half.

Spain put four past Switzerland, whilst Portugal fought back to defeat Scotland 2-1. Who else but Cristiano Ronaldo came off the bench to score yet another Nations League winner.

Finally, the world saw San Marino secure their first win in 20 years and their second ever, beating Lichenstein 1-0. These lovely scenes are the pinnacle of the beautiful game.

Matchday 3 – Our Predictions

The team here at Betting Online have picked out the top five fixtures from Matchday 3 and provided their predictions and tips below.

We say: England 2-0 Greece

After having secured two 2-0 victories over the Republic of Ireland and Finland last time out, we are confident that the Three Lions can continue their unbeaten form in Group B and get the win again this time out against Greece.

Greece also enjoyed two victories in the last campaign over Finland (3-0) and the Republic of Ireland (2-0).

We say: Italy 3-1 Belgium

Italy won both their nations league games last time out against France and Israel, and we are backing them to win again against Belgium.

Still searching for that form they once had, Belgium showed signs of good things to come as they beat Israel 3-0. However, they lost 2-0 to France.

We say: Iceland 1-1 Wales

A mixed run of results last time out, with one win and one loss for Iceland, and one win and a draw for Wales, it is hard to separate these sides.

We are backing both to score but for the match to end all square.

We say: Croatia 2-1 Scotland

It is hard to look past Croatia in this one, especially as Steve Clarke’s side has lost both games in Matchday 1 and 2.

Scotland have however managed to get on the scoresheet in both, so we are backing them to score but for the home side to steal the win.

We say Spain 3-2 Denmark

Spain has four points from two games and now faces a Denmark side that has been unbeaten in the Nations League.

Despite a perfect start for Denmark, we are backing the European Champions, Spain to just secure the win with the strength and talent emerging in their side, but not by much.
