The early rounds of the US Open are well underway, with the best players in the world battling it out on court to make it to the final of the fourth and final Grand Slam of the year. As we progress through the tournament, our expert Betting Online tipsters have provided their predictions and tips on who could be crowned the 2024 US Open champion.
The 144th edition of the US Open may be without some familiar faces, including Andy Murray and Rafa Nadal, but plenty of world-class players are raring to go out in New York.
Last year’s champion Novak Djokovic, returns in what has not always been a happy hunting ground for the Serbian. After winning gold at the Olympics, Djokovic will be hunting to secure grand slam number 25 of his career and back-to-back US Open titles. He enters the tournament in the bottom half of the draw, ranked as the number 2 seed, which on paper appears to be the easier route to the final.
Carlos Alcaraz, meanwhile, finds himself in the same half as Jannik Sinner and Daniil Medvedev. The Spaniard enters the tournament as a number three seed, which is perceived as the toughest possible route, although he should only have to play one of those before the final.
Last year saw an enthralling final for the Men’s Singles, as Novak Djokovic and Daniil Medvedev faced off. Medvedev did not have the easiest battles, having to make it past the 2022 US Open champion Carlos Alcaraz in the semi-finals to secure his spot in the final. Djokovic, meanwhile, comfortably beat his opponent, American Ben Shelton, in his semi-final match. Ultimately, the Serbian Djokovic reigned supreme, beating the Russian in three straight sets: 6-3, 7-6, 6-3. A reverse of the 2021 result, which saw Medvedev beat Djokovic. Both are expected to make it to the latter stages of the tournament again this year.
A grand slam that has seen the best of the best take to the courts has a rich history of the greats holding the trophy. Djokovic winning the 2023 final has put the Serbian just one US Open title away from equalling his record five wins. Below is a recap of the US Open champions over the last 10 years.

While we believe it will be one of last year’s finalists or semi-finalists to win. The 2024 US Open has a fantastic run of form from other players leaving the door wide open for an unpredictable upset. We are backing Alcaraz, with a potential upset along the way.
