F1 is back this weekend as the run-in begins with eight races in six weeks…
The Irish Open begins at Royal County Down on Thursday 12th September for the next stop on the DP World Tour calendar.
With many big names in the world of golf taking to the course, our betting online experts have been hard at work picking out their favourites ahead of the start.
In what is regarded as one of the best golf courses in the world, tickets for the Amgen Irish Open are selling fast and its not hard to see why! Hosting for the first time since 2015, it features lots of great names in the game, including Wyndham Championship winner Aaron Rai, it is going to be a cracker.
Irish fans can look forward to welcoming home heroes including Rory McIlroy, Shane Lowry, Pádraig Harrington, Séamus Power and Tom McKibbin, while Ryder Cup Captain Luke Donald and Rolex Series winner Ryan Fox will also be competing. Many other top players will be on the course, including Erik Van Rooyen, Rasmus Hojgaard, brother Nicolai Hojgaard, Robert MacIntyre and Thomas Detry.
Aaron Rai – after claiming the Wyndham Championship by just two shots back in August, the Englishman found himself at a career ranked highest 21st on the Official World Golf Ranking.
Rory McIlroy – a disappointing T16 result for McIlroy last time out in the Irish Open will have the 35-year-old hungry for more. Currently sitting in third in the Official World Golf Ranking, can he look to move closer to second position with a win at Royal County Down? A result here would set the Irishman up for the BMW PGA Championship, an event McIlroy has not won since 2014.
Shane Lowry – looking to betting his T3 result last year, Lowry is hopeful to secure a second win at his home tour event after winning back in 2009 as an amateur.
The 2023 edition of the Irish Open saw Sweedish golfer Vincent Norman win with a total of -14. This was followed by German Hurly Long in second with -13, and four tied third at -12 including Irish man Shane Lowry.
1st – Vincent Norman
2nd – Hurly Long
T3 – Ryan Fox, Thriston Lawrence, Grant Forrest, Shane Lowry.
