Coming off an unbeaten test summer, England will be looking to continue their form out in Pakistan.
Some great performances throughout the summer across test matches, ODIs, and T20s have shown that the Three Lions’ approach to the game is working a treat and is certainly bringing back the excitement to supporters.
The series forms part of the ICC World Test Championship, with nine teams competing for a spot in the final. England currently occupy fourth place in the table, while Pakistan sit in eighth.
England can look forward to the return of captain Ben Stokes after missing the most recent test against Sri Lanka with a hamstring injury sustained in The Hundred. Opening batsman Zak Crawley is also back after missing out with an injured finger sustained in the West Indies test.
England squad: Ben Stokes (captain), Rehan Ahmed, Gus Atkinson, Shoaib Bashir, Harry Brook, Brydon Carse, Jordan Cox, Zak Crawley, Ben Duckett, Jack Leach, Ollie Pope, Matthew Potts, Joe Root, Jamie Smith, Olly Stone, Chris Woakes.
The host’s red-ball side has been facing one of the worst runs of results in its history, winning just three of its last 17 tests.
Their latest defeat came against Bangladesh, who won the series 2-0 for the first time in Rawalpindi in August.
Test captain Shan Masood believes this is their chance to turn things around, especially after recently facing England and some of the players included in the visitors’ test squad.
They will also be hoping the home advantage will work in their favour and help to restore the cricketing nations hope and happiness.

The sides met earlier this year in a T20 series that saw England win 2-0, with two matches being abandoned without a ball being bowled. England won by 23 runs and followed this up with another win by seven wickets.
