The second of back-to-back Formula One race weekends sees a second street circuit in as many weeks as the teams head to Marina Bay for the Singapore Grand Prix.
Ahead of the race, at Betting Online, our experts have been providing everything you need to know, including their top betting tips for the race.
A thrilling and toll-taking night race awaits the drivers at the Marina Bay Circuit in Singapore for one of the most physically demanding tracks on the calendar.
The bumpy street circuit and humid conditions give teams and drivers lots to think about. It’s 62 laps of fast racing, full of corners, with lots of working the wheel.
A change from the 2023 Singapore Grand Prix reduces the number of corners from 23 to 19 in a bid to lessen the impact on the drivers. A great spectacle awaits F1 fans in what should be a fantastic night of high-speed racing, overtakes and a battle of the fittest.
Following the race, there is a four-week break before action resumes in late October for the US Grand Prix.
Last week, an eventful race in Azerbaijan saw McLaren take the lead in the Constructor’s Championship for the first time since 2014. Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri finished above both Red Bulls, including a second-race victory for Piastri after the Australian overtook the pole-sitter Charles Leclerc.
Some close and hard racing was taking place in the battle for the podium places as Leclerc chased down Piastri with much older and worn tyres. Sergio Perez, in third, was in line for an overtake on Leclerc in the closing stages until Carlos Sainz’s Ferarri joined the party. After overtaking Perez and going for another on his teammate, the pair collided, resulting in a crash that took them out of the race.
This promoted George Russell to third place and another podium finish, with Norris finishing in fourth and Verstappen behind in fifth. With both McLarens scoring points, including an extra point for the fastest lap, they now head into the next race leading the constructors championship, and Norris just 59 points behind Verstappen.
Since 2008, the Singapore Grand Prix has established itself as one of the standout race weekends on the F1 calendar. The Marina Bay Circuit hosted the first night race and is one of the most physically demanding tracks, with drivers losing up to 3kg in body weight throughout the race.
Last year’s Singapore Grand Prix saw a dramatic final few laps, with Red Bull’s dominance being ended by a Sainz victory. Norris finished in second, while the chasing Mercedes of George Russell crashed on the final lap, handing his teammate Lewis Hamilton the final podium place.
