F1 is back this weekend as the run-in begins with eight races in six weeks to determine who will be crowned the 2024 champion.
A sprint weekend brings non-stop racing action from Friday through until Sunday, with plenty of points and places up for grabs.
After a four-week break, the action is back on track, this time at the Circuit of the Americas.
A sprint weekend awaits, and it’s bound to be a cracker, with more teams now seemingly closer to the Red Bulls.
The sprint also offers the winner an extra eight points, which could be the difference at the end of the season.
Mercedes are one of the teams bringing their final car upgrade of the season to the USA in a bid to secure some better results than the last few races.
While Liam Lawson makes his bid to secure a seat for 2025 after replacing Daniel Ricciardo at RB.
Four weeks ago, the drivers were out in Singapore, and we saw McLaren’s Lando Norris win the race.
Crossing the finishing line with a mere 20.9-second lead over Max Verstapped in the second, the British driver continues to chip away at the Championship lead, now 52 points behind the Red Bull driver.
Norris led 62/62 laps of the race, although it was not maximum points this time around as RB’s Daniel Ricciardo took the fastest lap in what turned out to be the Australian’s last hurrah.
Finishing 18th and last, Riccardio did not get the point for the lap but prevented it from going to McLaren. A move that was acknowledged by Red Bull and old teammate Verstappen on the team radio after the race.
It was announced after the race that this was the last race for the Aussie, to be replaced by Liam Lawson after the break.
Overall, the race was a great one, with close calls to the walls and lots of drivers making up places.
The top three were as follows: 1) Lando Norris, 2) Max Verstappen, and 3) Oscar Piastri.
Austin has been the home of the United States Grand Prix since 2012, and in that time, it has grown to become one of the biggest on the calendar.
Attendance numbers have almost hit half a million over the past few years and offer quite the spectacle on and off the track.
Its modern racetrack is 56 laps, with a circuit length of 5.513km and race distance of 308.405km.
For the first race held here, fans were in for a treat as over 100,000 spectators packed out the Austin venue, witnessing Lewis Hamilton’s last-ever win in a McLaren before his switch to Mercedes for 2013.
