It’s time for our Barcelona Open quarter betting tips. Following Fabio Fognini’s win at the Monte Carlo Masters last week, the European clay court season looks to be more open than ever before. Rafael Nadal’s dominance is – for the time being at least – the challenge most players face but as he chases his 12th Barcelona Open title, the assembled field capable of beating him looks to have grown.

Quarter 1:
Eleven-time champion Rafael Nadal sits at the top of the draw in Barcelona as he looks to bounce back from his Monte Carlo disappointment. He looks to have a less congested draw than the one he faced in Monaco and at 1/5 with Ladbrokes is the logical bet to reach the last 4 this week.
Last year’s runner up Stefanos Tsitsipas enjoyed his big breakthrough at this event in 2018 and how he would love to gone better here. Despite being on course to face Nadal at the last 8 stage, he will fancy his chances and could be worth an outside punt at 4/1 with Bet365.
Number 15 seed Lucas Pouille has enjoyed an excellent start to 2019, climbing the rankings and reaching the Australian Open semi-final. The Frenchman isn’t known for his clay court prowess but at 8/1 with Ladbrokes he is certainly a value outside bet here.
ATP Tour stalwart David Ferrer is coming towards the end of his career but he has enjoyed huge success on clay and would love to go out with a bang in an event in which he has reached the final previously with his retirement on the horizon next month. The Spaniard is 16/1 with Betsafe to cause a huge upset in the first quarter.

Quarter 2:
Dominic Thiem will be looking to bounce back from his Monte Carlo disappointment as he attempts to generate some form before the French Open next month. Clay is his undisputed favoured surface but with impressive results on hard courts earlier this season too, he is firmly established at the top table on the ATP Tour currently and the Austrian is 11/10 with Betsson to progress from the second quarter and reach the semi-finals.
Karen Khachanov is seeded 6 here in Barcelona and is enjoying a solid spell on the tour despite failing to reach the heights of the Paris Masters last season. He hasn’t produced his best tennis on clay historically but he has plenty of tools that could hurt people. At 4/1 with MansionBet he looks very much an outside bet to win the quarter.
Home-grown favourite Pablo Carreno-Busta looks to be finding form once more in 2019 and will be willed on by a passionate home crowd. This section of the draw looks quite open and he will fancy his chances of causing some damage here at 6/1 with Royal Panda. A
rgentine clay court specialist Guido Pella ran into an inspired Rafael Nadal last week but relishes clay court events and with Khachanov as his potential route through to the last 16 he could be another one to watch at 10/1 with Bet365.

Quarter 3:
Two-time Barcelona Open champion Kei Nishikori is seeded 4th in one of his most prolific events and he will be keen to go the distance this week. He disappointed in Monte Carlo but spoke of needing time to adjust to clay courts and he looks a little over-priced at 6/4 with TonyBet to reach the semi-finals.
Monte Carlo champion Fabio Fognini looks to be in the form of his life on his favoured surface. The fiery Italian is knocking on the door of the world’s top 10 and he should be well placed for another long week at 9/4 with Bet-at-Home.
Canadian Denis Shapovalov continues to contest in the big events and is playing from number 9 seed here in Barcelona. He is a relative unknown quantity on clay but certainly has the skills to some damage and could be a strong outside bet at 6/1 with Guts to reach the last 4 here.
Fellow Canadian sensation Félix Auger-Aliassime is operating from 16th seed here in Barcelona and he will be hoping to replicate his Miami heroics. Another man not used to playing on clay but at 14/1 with Betfred, he could be a good pick in a packed quadrant.

Quarter 4:
Russian hotshot Daniil Medvedev is the top seed left in the bottom quarter following Alexander Zverev’s first round defeat. His win over Novak Djokovic last week demonstrated his clay court abilities and at 7/4 with Ladbrokes he looks good value to reach the last 4 here. Three experienced campaigners are in contention in the bottom quarter too.
Grigor Dimitrov has shown glimpses of his best form in 2019 but he isn’t known for his clay court prowess particularly. The enigmatic Bulgarian is 7/2 with Uni Bet to reach a much needed semi-final this week.
Frenchman Gilles Simon has enjoyed a resurgence in 2019 and finds himself as the number 11 seed here as a result. With the bottom of the draw being so open it would be naïve to rule him out at 9/2 with William Hill.
Clay court specialist and home favourite Fernando Verdasco has reached the final in Barcelona in the past and continues to scrap week in, week out on the ATP Tour. He will be willed on by passionate home support and 6/1 with 888 Sport to reach the last 4, he could well be the man to watch in an open draw.
