Mr Play is a new sportsbook that has burst onto the scene with a fierceness that is highly impressive. It launched in 2018 so has been around for just a couple of years so far. Generally, this is too early for many sportsbooks to make a big impact, but not so for Mr Play. It is already well on its way to building a trustworthy reputation and strong client base. It’s also starting to get a decent share of the market already.

The owners of Mr Play is Marketplay Ltd, which has done a great job in creating the brand up till this point. The main software provider of the company is Aspire Global International Ltd, which has a solid name in the industry by itself. The company’s headquarters is located in Malta and they hold a gaming license from the highly reputable UK Gambling Commission, so it’s regulated and legal to play in the UK.

In this Mr Play review, we are going to see how it measures up as a new bookmaker, and whether it has what it takes to challenge the bigger and more well-established names in the industry and establish itself firmly as a solid operator. We will be looking at all different aspects of the site, including its safety and security. We will also look at all the different sports and markets the bookmaker has to offer, as well as its bonuses and promotions. Furthermore, we look at all areas of its usability including banking, customer service as well as the desktop and mobile products.

Market Offering

This is a new sportsbook, but unexpectedly, it has a very decent market and sports offering. We were pleasantly surprised. It stands up to many of the older names in the industry. They cover a number of sports, from the more common sports, such as football, horse racing and boxing, to the lesser known sports, including Gaelic Hurling and Bandy. There is also an impressive number of leagues covered in the most popular sports. It’s pretty safe to say that your highly likely to find whatever it is you are looking for on this site.

If you are looking to bet on a big football match, the Champions League Final for example, you’ll be able to find dozens of pre-match markets available. As you would expect, the larger the game, the more markets you will find.

All in all, there are approximately 32 different sports you can bet on, so there is something for all. There are UK sports, sports popular in Europe, such as Handball, and even popular American sports, such as Basketball, Baseball and Ice Hockey. Here are the sports they have on offer:

FootballBasketballTennisIce Hockey
VolleyballHandballHorse RacingGreyhounds
Aussie RulesBandyBadmintonBaseball
BoxingCricketCyclingDarts
EsportsFloorballAmerican FootballGaelic Football
Gaelic HurlingGolfMMAMotor Racing
Rugby LeagueRugby UnionSnookerPool
SpeedwayTable TennisWater PoloWinter Sports

This sportsbook also offers more than just sportsbetting, which is good if you want to try out something a little different from time to time. There are a number of eSports you can bet on, including Counter-Strike: Go, Dota 2, League of Legends and more. If you want to try your hand at something more current, then you can make bets on specials, including Sports Personality of the Year, Strictly Come Dancing, Dancing on Ice and UK Christmas Number 1. You can also bet on political issues such as UK General Election and the US Presidential Election.

In-Play Betting

As a new online sportsbook, there is currently no Mr Play live streaming option available as of yet. Obviously, this does go against them. However, they are new, so this might well be something added in the near future – hopefully. Obviously, this isn’t something all bookmakers have – and not something all punters want or need, but it is a nice option to have. Also, the main players have it, so it’s helpful if they want to keep up with the main players.

However, despite the fact that there is no live streaming, the Mr Play in play section is really rather good. Simply click on the top left-hand tab that says ‘in-Play’ and you can see all current in-play sports available, from Football and basketball to cricket, golf, snooker and pool. You can check out the Overview, Event View or see the In-Play Schedule to plan for your future betting.  Overall, there’s plenty of In-Play options and it’s neat and clear. It would be nice to see more graphics and stats as the game progresses however. This is something that could be improved in the future.

Odds

Often, you’ll find that odds for new sportsbooks aren’t great, as they can’t necessarily afford to be overly generous compared to more well-established bookies. However, the Mr Play odds available on the site are some of the best around – and on a vast number of sports too. All in all, the prices are very competitive and when you compare them with a lot of the others, you’ll see you get more for your money at Mr Play, especially when it comes to sports such as football and boxing. However, to counter this, some other sports have less competitive prices, so it’s generally good to shop around to be sure.

However, value of the odds aside, the site makes them very accessible for all. If you prefer working with the European decimal system, you can do so. However, if you prefer the traditional fractional system, or even the American moneyline system, then just click on the ‘odds’ tab at the top right of the screen and you can see them however you wish.

Welcome Bonus

The one area very important to any new online besting site is its welcome bonus. It is this that will catch a new customer’s attention in the first place. However, at first glance, the Mr Play welcome bonus doesn’t seem the most exciting of offers. Currently, you can get £10 when you make your first bet of £10 or more. The Mr Play Bet 10 Get 10 is exactly what it says. Simply sign up as a new player, make a deposit of £10 or more, then make a qualifying bet of £10 or more, then you will get a £10 free bet bonus token added to your account. It’s really very simple and straight forward, but you need to make sure that your first deposit and bet meets all of the qualifying terms.

When looking at the terms and conditions attached, they all seem pretty standard and reasonable. The deposit must be £10 or more, and the qualifying money must not be deposited with Skrill or Neteller. Furthermore, void, cancelled or cashed out bets won’t count towards wagering to activate your free bet. The free bet offer is also valid only in certain countries, including the UK. Furthermore, the free bet is only valid for 14 days after receipt. There are plenty more terms and conditions attached, so do make sure that you read the fine print before taking advantage of the offer.

ACCA Playboost

If you are a keen acca bettor, then there’s a very generous Mr Play Playboost available for your accas. With this, you can win up to 77% more on your acca that has four or more selections to it. To get this offer, choose at least 4 pre match sports selections. Then, place a 4-fold or more acca bet with minimum odds 1/5 (1.2), then enjoy a boost of up to 77% on your wins. The boost is set out as follows:

Selection NumberBoost Percentage
44%
57%
610%
715%
820%
925%
1030%
1135%
1240%
1345%
1450%
1577%

There are a number of terms and exceptions you need to be aware of, and the maximum ‘extra winnings’ you can get from this promotion is £11,000. Be sure to check out all of the terms so you know that all of your selections qualify for the promotion, to avoid any disappointments when you want to claim your winnings!

Other Offers

As well as these, you can also benefit from other offers available on the site. These include Player Props, which allows you to bet on a player’s performance in the match. So, you could bet on Salah to score from outside the box or bet on the total number of passes Jordan Henderson will make. You can bet on mistakes, penalties and more.

You can also benefit from cash out on qualifying bets and Pulse Betting. Pulse Betting lets you bet on a goal being scored in the next 30 seconds, 1, 5 or 10 mins in a live football match. This makes your in-play betting even more exciting and is available only on mobile or tablet.

Security & Regulation

If you put everything else aside, the most important aspect of any betting site is the security, safety and regulations of the site. Happily, this site is regulated by the UK Gambling Commission, which is essential for any sportsbook operating within the UK. It’s fair to say that this is one of the most well-respected and strict bodies in the industry. Therefore, you can rest assured that the site has been fully tested and is always being monitored to make sure your safety and security is protected at all times. As such, all on the site should be completely transparent and fair.

In terms of data and financial protection on the site, it is as safe as is possible. Obviously, with any website, there is a minimal chance of risk. However, Mr Play employs the latest SSL technology. This encryption service ensures that your data is safe from the hands of hackers and malpractice. It also runs the latest firewall to ensure that it is protected from viruses and malware. Indeed, the protection of your data is so safe that even employees at Mr Play can’t access your payment details as the numbers are covered with XXX.

Additionally, the site is linked to ITechLabs, which is a third-party testing agency that makes sure that all technical areas of the site are regularly tested and completely fair, whether on the sports part of the site or the casino. You’ll also see that the site is linked with responsible gambling companies including Gamblers Anonymous and Problem Gaming Support, so you have easy access to help if you feel your gambling is becoming a problem.

Banking Options

Most new betting sites realise the importance of having a number of options for payment and withdrawal. Gone are the days when bank card payments were sufficient. Many people now prefer the security and convenience of other methods, such as mobile and eWallets. That being said, Mr Play banking methods are as varied as you would expect. You can use bank cards, including Visa, MasterCard and Maestro, but you can also use eWallets such as Neteller and Skrill. It is also a PayPal site, which means that it is deemed to be very safe and secure as it offers security on your transactions. Here are the options available to you:

VisaMasterCardMaestroPayPal
SkrillNetellerPaysafecardBank wire

On all forms of depositing, the minimum allowed is £10, and it’s good to note that there will be no fees attached to your deposits either. When it comes to withdrawing, there is a minimum withdrawal of £20 for each transaction. Again, there are no fees attached to this by the betting site, but there may be fees by the bank.

All deposits you make into your account are instant, so you can get playing straight away. However, there will be a certain amount of waiting when it comes to withdrawals. This depends on the method of withdrawal. In general, eWallets are the quickest, with most being completed within one day. However, bank cards can take a little longer, between three to five days, depending on your bank. Furthermore, you might be asked for additional documentation to support your withdrawal, which can add extra time on to the process. You can make your payments in GBP and EUR.

Customer Service

One area that is important for all players is the customer service, as problems could arise at any time. The most effective way of communication with the customer service team is via live chat. This enables you to talk to staff quickly and directly. The chat is answered within minutes, although it can take a little longer at busy periods. You can also access this service 24 hours a day, which is a bonus. However, we were a little disappointed to note that there is no telephone service available as sometimes people do like to speak to someone.

If you are after a response that isn’t as urgent, then you can contact them via email, at any time of day. We found that on most occasions, they respond in under 24 hours, which is impressive compared to other betting sites. As well as this, there is a decent FAQ area of the site, which offers answers to queries about things such as privacy, bonuses, cashing out, depositing, documentation, technical issues, Sports FAQs, and more.

User Experience

The site was started primarily as a casino site, so when you first enter the site, you would be forgiven for thinking you’d gotten on to an online casino. However, along the top of the site you will be given the option to choose casino, live casino, scratchcards or sport. Simply click on the sports tab and you’re in. The sports page design is simple yet attractive, in blue, white and black.  The ‘Open Account’ tab can be found at the top of the page, alongside the login button and the help tab.  Beneath this, the In-Play betting and Result can be found on the left-hand side. Further down, on the left, there is a list of all the sports. Central to this is the popular in-play betting markets currently available. To the right of this is your betting slip.

Making the bet is simple. You can use the search bar to find the event you are looking for. Once you have this, you can simply click on the bet you want to make, and it will be added to your bet slip. Then click on the stake you want to make. It will then tell you your expected return. You then click on place bet and it’s all done. However, make sure you have money in your account before doing this.

You can add money to your account by clicking on the account tab, choosing your payment method and amount, then depositing. We liked the fact that it was very quick and easy to navigate, so making a last-minute bet would be no problem at all.

Mobile Experience

New online casinos very often come with an impressive mobile app and the Mr Play mobile app really won’t disappoint you. When you open the site on mobile, you will be taken to the casino. However, click on the menu icon on the top left corner and you will find a sports icon to take you to the sports betting page. Once here it’s very easy to navigate. At the top, you can choose whether to open an account or log in. The search bar is directly below this, and the list of sports is underneath that. Underneath this you will find the current promotions. Underneath this is all of the most popular in-play bets with the odds beside them. As soon as you click on the bet you want to make, a little blue moustache will pop up at the bottom. Clicking on this will take you straight to your betting slip. It really is simple to make your bets.

As well as this, it is easy to access your account and banking, and you make your deposits just the same as you would on desktop. You can also access the live chat simply, on the left-hand dropdown menu. It looks very sleek, modern and stylish and offers a service equal to some of the best out there. Furthermore, you can access it on both iPhone and Android. Overall, we were very impressed with the quality and user experience found on the Mr Play betting app. It’s a great option if you’re one who likes to bet on the move.

Conclusion:
After having looked at the Mr Play sportsbook, we were very impressed considering how new the site was. The desktop and mobile sites were very stylish and easy to use. Registering and depositing was quick and easy, and we could get going in no time. The Mr Play welcome bonus was pretty standard, but had reasonable terms and conditions attached. The acca deal was also good. It was very easy to start making the bets and adding to the bet slip. Also, the odds were really competitive for some of the most popular sports. We also were impressed with the banking speed and options available. The Customer Service agents were very good, although we would have liked to see a phone number available. Furthermore, it would be a bonus if they added live streaming at some point in the future. However, the overall experience was great, on both mobile and desktop. For a new sportsbook, it has done well, and we expect to see it on the market for some time yet.
